Supporting the Library

Residents of the Rockland Central School District generously provide the majority of the Library’s funding through an annual tax levy, however it is the charitable and indispensable donations from supporters like you, who complete the Library’s budget and allow for the opportunities and resources it provides for the community.

Donate Now

The Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library seeks to expand its role as an essential part of the lives of district residents and visitors, promoting an enriched and informed community. The charitable donation of a life insurance policy is a generous way to support the library, both while you’re living and after you’ve passed away.

You can retain ownership of your life insurance policy and name the library as a beneficiary or donate the entirety of your policy, including ownership. If applicable, some policies may allow for the transfer of dividends as regular gifts to the Library. Your insurance provider should be able to provide more details regarding policy changes or transfer.

Tribute Gift: A tribute gift is a thoughtful way to commemorate special occasions or to honor an individual who has made a valued impact on your life. These gifts serve as tributes for celebrations such as: anniversaries, births, birthdays, bar/bat mitzvahs, graduations, weddings, and professional milestones, such as promotions and retirements.

Memorial Gift: A memorial gift is a meaningful way to remember a loved one who has passed away by making a donation in their name.

These gifts allow you to honor and memorialize family, friends, and others in a unique way while generously supporting the Library. The Library will send a letter to the person, people, or organization you are honoring, or whomever you designate, acknowledging your thoughtful gift.

Memorial Plaque: In some circumstances, individuals deeply connected to the Library may have a memorial plaque made and displayed in the Library in their memory. For those that wish to memorialize a loved one in this way, please contact the Library to learn about the donation minimums required.

Legal Name: The Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library
Address: 92 Main Street, Livingston Manor, NY 12758
Federal Tax Identification Number: 14-1497122

The Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

To make a charitable bequest to The Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library, you can simply include a statement in your will or trust agreement that makes specific reference to “The Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library, a charitable organization located in Livingston Manor, New York.” Also be sure to reference the amount or percentage of the bequest.

A bequest of your retirement plans such as pension funds or IRAs can be a tax effective way to gift to The Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library. You should consult with your legal and tax advisors before adding this or any charitable bequest to your will, trust agreement, or retirement account.

Making a gift to the Library by beneficiary designation from any or all of the following types of TOD (“Transfer on Death”) accounts is a simple and efficient way to fund you legacy and avoid the time and expenses that result from having the assets subject to the probate process.

Retirement Plans
Many people do not know that when retirement plans such as pension funds, 401ks, 403bs, and IRAs are left to an individual other than a spouse, they can be subject to income taxes, and estate taxes. The two taxes combined could erode a larger portion of the remaining benefits you earned throughout your life.

If given to the Library properly, these funds could limit income and estate taxes and reduce the size of your total taxable estate.

Life Insurance
If you own a life insurance policy that is no longer needed for the protection of your family or for other purposes, you may use it to make a gift to the Library. One way to give a life insurance policy to the Library is to name the Library as the owner and irrevocable beneficiary of the policy. Alternatively, you could name the Library as the beneficiary of the policy, which opens up opportunities for other beneficiaries to take advantage of estate tax deduction.

Financial Accounts
Many people’s primary assets are held in savings, checking, and brokerage accounts that allow you to designate a beneficiary. Naming The Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library as the beneficiary of these accounts is very simple and allows whatever balance (or portion thereof) remaining to pass to the Library upon your death.

Completing the Designation
To name the Library as beneficiary of any of the abovementioned gift types, contact a representative of the institution that manages your account or policy, and request a “change of beneficiary form.” Please remember to consult your tax and legal professionals prior to finalizing any gift, designation, or estate plan document naming The Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library as a beneficiary.
